Light
Bright, indirect light
Watering
Water when top 2 inches of soil are dry
Feeding and fertiliser
Feed every 4–6 weeks during active growth at quarter to half strength. Do not fertilise fresh unrooted cuttings.
Potting mix
40% coarse orchid bark, 30% potting mix, 20% perlite, 10% worm castings
Propagation
Node-bearing stem cuttings or air layering
Support notes
Provide a moist moss pole or moss plank to allow aerial roots to anchor. This encourages larger leaves and chunkier nodes.
Additional care notes
Provide support for climbing. Variegated forms need brighter indirect light and may root more slowly than green forms.
Mature size
A vigorous climbing aroid that can reach around 2–3 m indoors when given strong support, with increasingly large and fenestrated leaves as it matures.
Dormancy and winter growth
No true dormancy is normally required indoors. Growth may slow during the darker UK winter, so reduce watering and feeding in line with the plant's actual growth rate.
